The Caligula Effect Is Going To Release On May 2nd For Vita In The West

Atlus has confirmed that the JRPG The Caligula Effect will be available in North America and Europe from May 2nd on the Vita as a digital title. The story of The Caligula Effect centres around high school students who discover they live in a virtual simulation controlled by a virtual idol called Myoo, and this virtual prison is called Mobius. The students who discover the truth name themselves the Go Home Club, and have to battle against the brainwashed students as well as other enemies.

According to the press release players can have a party of four characters to get through the game, but the compilation of this party may be difficult as over 500 NPCs are eligible to be selected with each having their own unique stats. The battle system is called Imaginary Chain and one of the features is being able to preview an attack before committing, so you can figure out which tactics work best. Party members can also team up to create a combo chain.

The Caligula Effect’s story has been written by Tadashi Satomi who has also worked on Persona, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 2: Eternal Darkness. The Caligula Effect will retain the original Japanese audio work as well.
