Final Fantasy XIV is hands-down one of the best console MMOs we’ve played and, with a second expansion on its way, Square Enix is looking to bring new adventurers into the fold.
Previously the game featured a 14-day free trial for anyone looking to dip their toes in the enchanting world of Eorzea. Two-week trials are nothing new and were commonplace during the reign of subscription-based MMOs. However, considering how long these games take to download and register for, those fourteen days never seems like enough.
Although certain limitations apply, Square has completely removed any time restrictions, allowing newcomers to access a huge portion of the game without needing to pay a penny. Not until you hit level 35, this is.
These changes apply to both the PC and PlayStation 4 version of the game.

There’s just one thing missing from the list of “certain limitations”.
The words “Square Enix accounts that have already registered for a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account are not eligible for a free trial” seem to apply to anyone who, for example, tried the beta version all those years ago on the PS3.
Presumably the same applies if you’ve previously had a 14-day trial. But not to anyone who signs up for a new Squeenix account today.
They do suggest you log in with an account that hasn’t had a FFXIV service account registered to it, so that might work. But I guess that means anything you did in a 14 day trial previously will be lost if you want the unlimited time trial.

And now the PS blog is saying that’s not the case. Even though it appears to be what happens.
Still, it’s not as if it’s hard to find a spare email address ;)

How many hours to level 35 roughly?
Jim Hargreaves
Totally depends on what sort of activities you undertake. If you simply mainline the story missions without doing dungeons or explorations, you’re still looking at 40 or so hours approx.
For more inquisitive players, that could stretch beyond 60-70 hours.
