Codemasters “Considering” PSVR For Dirt 4 After Release

We recently covered the PlayStation VR expansion for DiRT Rally with Tef saying it “is practically essential for racing fans”, so it’s pleasing to hear that DiRT 4 may be getting some PSVR loving.

PlayStation Access posted video on the game and in the comments section a poster asked if the game would include support for Sony’s VR headset.

DiRT 4 won’t be PS VR ready at launch, as until then we’re focusing on making the base game as best it can be. However, it’s definitely something we’re considering once that’s done. Don’t worry – we’ll keep you posted on any updates on that front!

It follows on from the Dirt 4 reveal when we asked Chief Game Designer Paul Coleman to comment on the possibility. At the time he said, that there was “nothing to say other than we’re looking forward to seeing how Dirt Rally does on PSVR.” The implication seems to be that the PSVR update for Dirt Rally has done well enough for them to seriously consider giving Dirt 4 the same treatment.

Sounds promising, doesn’t it?

  1. The PSVR took Dirt Rally from a good game to a great game for me so I’m very happy to hear Codies are considering VR for Dirt 4.

And with Slightly Mad Studios seriously looking into PSVR support for Project Cars 2 it could be a great year for racers!

    F1 VR? Yes please Codies.

  2. I tried playing Dirt Rally VR 3 times on my PSVR and regular PS4 and I got motion sickness every time. Have any tips to alleviate that feeling like I’m going to hurl? I made the mistake of playing through the sickness and was sick to my stomach the rest of the night. If I closed my eyes it also felt like the room was spinning.

    • Its not just me then, I got sick after playing the VR mode and thought it was something I’d eaten, evidently not.

    • There is an option in the VR settings (can’t remember what it’s called) but it warns you it can cause motion sickness when you turn it on, may be worth checking it’s not selected.

    • I have been very lucky as I’ve not had motion sickness with any VR game. I think there are settings in the game where you can adjust or remove the camera movement / shake to ease the motion sickness. Could be worth a try.
