It’s fair to say that Farpoint is a game that many people will be expecting big things of when it launches for PSVR on May 17th. The game has received a big push from Sony and it has even spawned a new controller to further immerse players into thinking they are wielding a weapon on a hostile planet. While we know players are stranded on a hostile planet the story is something that hasn’t been delved into much.
Well a new trailer has been released to give an introduction to the plot of Farpoint.
The story is focused on trying to find the scientists that were studying a radiation anomaly near Jupiter, though a portal of some kind opens and sends them to a new planet. In general it looks really good though the faces seem a bit strange, though that could be down to the visuals being rendered for a non VR trailer.

I am still very much excited about this but just me that got ME:A vibes from the characters faces?
Also, and I get this makes sense logistically, it will be a bit annoying not being able to shoot behind or 90 degrees to either side. Slightly disappointing. No way of fixing it I guess without multiple cameras which the PS4 just isn’t set up for.

This makes it sound like I’m shitting all over the game, I’m not. Thought the story looked great, visuals are great (character faces aside) and I’m genuinely quite excited about it.

You can shoot beyond 90 degrees to the side, you just can’t block sight of the Aim controller ball. It’s maybe around 250 degrees.
But the game’s been designed so that nothjng comes from behind you anyway. It’s more natural feeling than boiling it down to numbers like this sounds.

Ah good to hear. Was watching a video of someone playing it and he said otherwise. However he was also an idiot and wasn’t talking much sense so it’s good to have clarification from someone that isn’t an idiot (or at least, less of!).

That does look good, but it does need to be a decent length rather than 2-3 hours.

The trailer is quality – more quality than i would expect for such a relatively short experience. Definitely adds appeal though … at the right price.
