If you haven’t seen it already, Sony’s PlayStation VR Aim Controller looks a bit odd. The sleek white minimalist design is a clear breakaway from the PlayStation Move Sharpshooter that launched alongside Killzone 3 – a peripheral that actually worked really well.
In a video featuring Farpoint dev, Impulse Gear, you can see the Aim Controller close-up. From the tube-like design down to the button placement, every aspect has been carefully thought through by an internal team at Sony.
For example, the shape is deliberately vague without looking too much like a gun. This allowed the designers to prioritise weight and functionality, especially given how players won’t see it once their headset is on.
Farpoint may be leading the charge though other games will also make use of the Aim including ROM: Extraction, Dick Wilde, and the Brookhaven Experiment which will receive a patch on June 6th.
It’s great to see Sony committing to PlayStation VR in more ways than simply making games. We’ll be able to talk more about both Farpoint and the Aim Controller next week, so keep an eye out!
MOVE
A shame Farpoint doesn’t support PS Move controllers like several of the other ones do.
MOVE
I should have written “apparently” as it hasn’t been confirmed. Will you guys be able to test that when review the game?

We’ve had a quick go with Farpoint and it seems like the Move isn’t compatible.
We tried connecting one then two Move controllers but they didn’t work. There doesn’t seem to be any mention of them in the menus/instruction leaflet.

I wonder what motion sickness will be like in this. It seemed you have some freedom of movement as opposed to teleporting everywhere. Not sure this’ll be a good thing. I read a preview on Daily Star and they said you seem to float when moving, and made it out to be something that needed fixing before launch, but I’m guessing this is a conscious design choice for smoother movement.
