It all started with a cloudy city skyline a couple of days ago. Well it started before that, as we already knew a new Need for Speed was coming, but the road to the game’s reveal began with a rather unclear image. That image sparked the notion that either Seattle or Las Vegas could be the game’s setting. EA and Ghost Games have now revealed the game’s name as Need for Speed Payback, and the fictional Fortune Valley as the new locale.
In Need For Speed Payback players control three different characters as they go up against a cartel known as The House. These characters are Tyler, the Racer; Mac, the Showman; and Jess, the Wheelman. Fortune Valley appears to be a spin on Las Vegas, with the city having a number of casinos run by the cartel. There will be a number of on road and off road events to take part in as a way to earn the respect of Fortune Valley’s underground racing and criminal scenes. Ghost Games are also stating that Need For Speed Payback will have deep tuning and customisation options for vehicles.
Those who pre-order Need For Speed Payback will receive the Platinum Car Pack, which has the Nissan 350Z 2008, Chevrolet Camaro SS 1967, Dodge Charger R/T 1969, Ford F-150 Raptor 2016, and the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 2016. There’s also a Deluxe edition of the game that will give players three days early access. However if you’re an EA Access or Origin Access subscriber then you’ll be able to try out the game in a 10 hour trial from November 2nd.
