Need For Speed Payback Hits The Road On November 10th

Does The House always win?

It all started with a cloudy city skyline a couple of days ago. Well it started before that, as we already knew a new Need for Speed was coming, but the road to the game’s reveal began with a rather unclear image. That image sparked the notion that either Seattle or Las Vegas could be the game’s setting. EA and Ghost Games have now revealed the game’s name as Need for Speed Payback, and the fictional Fortune Valley as the new locale.

In Need For Speed Payback players control three different characters as they go up against a cartel known as The House. These characters are Tyler, the Racer; Mac, the Showman; and Jess, the Wheelman. Fortune Valley appears to be a spin on Las Vegas, with the city having a number of casinos run by the cartel. There will be a number of on road and off road events to take part in as a way to earn the respect of Fortune Valley’s underground racing and criminal scenes.  Ghost Games are also stating that Need For Speed Payback will have deep tuning and customisation options for vehicles.

Those who pre-order Need For Speed Payback will receive the Platinum Car Pack, which has the Nissan 350Z 2008, Chevrolet Camaro SS 1967, Dodge Charger R/T 1969, Ford F-150 Raptor 2016, and the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 2016. There’s also a Deluxe edition of the game that will give players three days early access. However if you’re an EA Access or Origin Access subscriber then you’ll be able to try out the game in a 10 hour trial from November 2nd.

From the heady days of the Mega Drive up until the modern day gaming has been my main hobby. I'll give almost any game a go.

  1. Gotta say it’s tough to see what the game is going to play like from the trailers, all the past entries in the series have been so different but looked very similar, the trailer hasn’t given much away. But with Ghost at the helm I’m hoping for good things, something like Hot Pursuit with a few sexy set pieces like The Run and a cheesy, overacted but action filled story like the NFS film. I guess I can’t help but be a bit excited and I might have to buy it whatever it’s like as they seem to have modelled the character in the white and red t shirt on me and I’ve never been in a game before!

  2. Looks like a trailer for fast and the furious. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.

    • Yep that’s what I thought. Doesn’t look particularly ground breaking.

  3. I wasn’t going to bother with this until they announced it wasn’t ‘always online’, then I thought maybe. But since then there’s nothing that stands out that makes it a must buy game so I’m still undecided.
I’m gonna wait until the 10 hour trail before making my mind up.

    • Ah awesome. If its offline, I will bit it up at some point!

  4. Being NFS I’m naturally interested so hopefully they show more soon.
