Lawbreakers Not On Xbox One (Yet) Due To The Install Base

Despite Cliff Bleszinsk’s close links to Xbox his new game, Lawbreakers, is only appearing on PlayStation 4 at the moment. The reason for this is simple numbers; there are a lot more PlayStation 4s than Xbox Ones.

“PlayStation had a larger user base,” said Boss Key Productions’ lead designer Dan Nanni. “We knew we could only support one platform right now. Being a small studio we had to make a decision that was the most financial, and economic sense for us to prosper. I would definitely not write off Xbox One for the future. But right now if we put Xbox into our plans we wouldn’t be launching the game in August.”

A closed beta of the game on PC is scheduled for June 28th and with open access on June 30th.

  1. never heard so much bollocks in my life…

    • How so? It’s a simple matter of resources and how that is handled over the span of months and years. Having more platforms means you need more developers and more QA testers to ensure that everything is ship shape, or the same number of staff need more time.

We’re not talking an astronomical amount of extra time, but potentially a few months for a unified release, and that would then push this game into the busy season where it’s liable to get drowned out by AAA launches.

  2. The real reason is because of criminal scum violating the law.

Or they lack the funds at the moment to do a release which may not get them much cash in return.
