2017 looks to be the year of Monster Hunter, and after last week’s announcement of Monster Hunter World, fans keen to experience the world in another new way will be heartened to learn that the tactical action-RPG Monster Hunter Stories will be making it’s way to Europe on the 8th of September.
Pegged as a heady mix of the Monster Hunter setting, with a smattering of Pokemon-esque collection and team building via some Fire Emblem tactical musings, this has the potential to be a huge moment for the franchise, building on the lore while offering a welcoming gateway to the all-encompassing action and planning of the mainline entries.
It may well signal the close of the relationship that Monster Hunter, Capcom and Nintendo have enjoyed over the last few years, and though purists may sneer at the move away from the franchise’s core it’s exciting to see a fresh direction that will offer a new window into Monster Hunter’s often-complicated world.
