The absence of a certain marsupial on PlayStation has been a sore point for many fans on the console and it has taken a rather long time for Crash to come home, albeit in remakes of the first three games he appeared in. The game smashed it’s way in to the top of the UK Charts this week and although we are not privy to the sales numbers others are, including Gameindustry.biz’s Chris Dring who tweeted this amazing bit of news.
More people bought Crash Bandicoot in its first week (UK) than Horizon Zero Dawn, making it the biggest single-format launch of the year

That’s great news and will hopefully spur Activision in to creating a new Crash game, or at least remaking Crash Team Racing. Activision are – how can I put this delicately – rather fond of money, and rumour has it the game will land on Xbox One just before Christmas.

That’s just N.Sane! 2nd time I’ve used that attempted home today. I will continue trying until it’s acknowledged.

Retailers have it listed for December for Xbox One.
Why is it a downside? More sales, money, maybe we’ll get CTR.

You are correct, sorry I’m a bit tired. Excellent point, amended.

Did anyone else forget how frustratingly frustrating the first game is?
I wonder how many parents bought this for their kids thinking it was a ‘kids game’ and now their kids hate them.
Hopefully this means we’ll get a remastered Spyro trilogy.

I’m stuck on jungle fortress (think it’s called that?). Tried it about 50 times now. Just can’t time the bit where there are 3 fires in a row. Always end up landing on one. Might move on to Crash 2 instead.

On this part, just above the second flame, is a flat bit of fence you can land on and wait for the next cycle (although the triple jump across IS possible in one go)
It’s sad I know exactly which bit you’re talking about, even sadder that this isn’t fresh knowledge…I remember it from my childhood
dave87fez
And it’s Native Fortress by the way ?

Oh God. I lost nearly 4hrs of my Sunday morning trying to get the gold relic on this level! Got there in the end but how the controller survived I’ve no idea…!
I thought these would be a few easy platinums but I’d clearly forgotten how absolutely rage inducing these games can be, especially the first!!
JR.
If you die a few times in a row the game gives you a free ‘umbadaga’ mask (official name) so you can jump on the first two extinguished flames and land on the third. You loose your umbadaga mask but at least you make it over.
If you think that part’s bad, good luck with the rest…
I can’t lie to you about your chances, but… you have my sympathies.

Hah Ash from Alien brilliant film and a fantastic line!

I really fail to see the point of releasing it on Xbox. According to those who compile this sort of stuff loads of previous Xbox owners have switched to PlayStation this generation. Switching from PS to XB, hmmmmm?
TrumpyMx
People buy the console their friends have. This is why PS4 dominance has accelerated throughout this generation. Its always been about getting the right hardware at the right price with the right games at the right time.
TrumpyMx
Microsoft fluffed all of that.

For people who own an xbox but want to play the game?
tonyyeb
Yeah exactly, the suggestion that this has only sold through utter nostalgia is a bit silly. It is a good set of games no matter what format they are on.

So a remake/remaster by activision is given proper effort and is quite decent?
Am…. Am I drunk or high without knowing it? I mean, did anyone spike my drink?
Seriously, that is not right. Activision does not do this.
But yeah, tis good to see Crash making a damn good combat and seeing it become a success and an X1 version will happen. It’ll sell and whilst it may not be as much as the PS version(due to nostalgia being a massive factor), the looks, gameplay will be enough to make it sell well.
A CTR and Bash remaster would be excellent.
Oh and wank joke about bashing something, something.
TheShepanator
It’s not so much Activision getting it right as it is them giving a pile of money to the right people to make it.
Vicarious Visions did Crash Nitro Kart on PS2 so they have some experience and history with the franchise, and they clearly have a lot of love for it.
I can only imagine the mess we could have gotten if Activision had palmed it off on some other dev who didn’t care and spent all the money on £10k coffee machines and company chefs (that’s what developers seem to be spending publisher money on nowadays)
wumpafruitsmoothie
Pleasantly surprised by how well the collection is selling. To echo what others have said: bring back CTR!
coruscant
Never played this originally but I’ll probably pick it up at some point, maybe when th disk is going for cheaper (I can’t see a discount for the digital version anytime soon!).
