Zelda: Breath of the Wild Version 1.3.1 Adds Free Item Giveaways, But Don’t Get Too Excited

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is arguably the best game launch this year, with the game getting outstanding review scores across the board. The game recently saw its first expansion pack featuring the more difficult Master Mode, a selection of masks and a new challenge area called the Master Trials which is a survival challenge where the player is stripped of all armor and inventory items and made to earn them again by defeating waves of enemies, in order the upgrade their Master Sword.

A patch deployed today hopes to fix issues within this expansion and also offers gifts to those that read up on Nintendo’s Zelda-related news via the Switch’s home menu similarly to Nintendo Spotlight. The change log can be read below:

Version 1.3.1

  • We have fixed the issue in Pack 1: The Master Trials of the Expansion Pass, in which defeating certain enemies for Kilton was not counted toward completion when playing in Master Mode.
  • In-game items can now be obtained from launching the software from certain articles distributed through a new News channel (“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Tips from the Wild”) which can be accessed through News on the Home menu. This channel is expected to open on 8/9/2017. Depending on your game progress and location, certain items may not be obtainable.
  • Various fixes to improve gameplay.

If you’re wondering what item Nintendo is giving away first, it’s a piece of Raw Meat and two apples which fall from the sky upon finishing the update and loading your game save – incredibly anticlimactic, we know. Hopefully, players see something a little more unique in the next giveaway.

  1. I would’ve enjoyed my free steak and apples, but I loaded my game perched on the edge of a tower and watched in horror as they dropped into the enemy ridden pond beneath. Bollocks :P
