The First Month Of Destiny 2 Activities Have Been Revealed

A little bit of anguish surrounding the armour shaders aside, Destiny 2 has got off to a cracking start – we’ll have updated thoughts and impressions from the single player and multiplayer over the weekend – but now that many people have polished off the main campaign and started grinding their way through strikes and events to rank up in preparation for the Raid going live next Wednesday.

We’ve known that date for a while now, but Bungie have also fleshed out the rest of the weekly events coming in the game’s first month. They’ve detailed the upcoming Nightfalls, the start of the Guided Games beta, which planets will be “Flashpoints”, and that the Trials of the Nine and Xur will return next Friday.

And if you’re sick and tired of seeing everyone prattling on about Destiny 2, well, it’s bound to die down a little in a week or two.

  1. I don’t really “get” Destiny. Is it multiplayer or single or both? Are the raids outwith the story? I’ve never really grasped the game but for some reason it intrigues me.

Anyone want to fill me in a bit? My assumption is it’s a bit like GTA Online? Do stuff on your own but the real fun is with others?

    • All of that.

    • 1) Play through story, this can be done either alone or with friends.

      2) After story the real game opens up. Complete strikes with 2 other players (can be friends, can be matchmade). Play PVP (4 v 4, again can be with friends, can be matchmade).

      3) This time the game has gone much more open world. Lots of big, open areas to explore with activities to do. Again, can be done with friends or can be done alone, either way you’ll come across lots of randoms in these open world areas.

      3) All of the above are in teams of 3 or 4. The biggest challenge is a raid, which is a 6 man activity. Big, long PVE fight. In Destiny 1 you had to go in with a full pre-made team, now they’re trialling matchaking for this.

      4) The biggest draw of the game though is the constant strive for loot. More powerful weapons and armour until you’ve reached the level cap, then you’re looking for gear with the best perks on it.

      5) Of course, this is all best done with friends.

      Does that help?

    • To add to Tony’s excellent answer, I would say that Destiny is best played in a group, but it is incredibly easy to find people to play with. Even without the matchmaking/guided games of the sequel, I never had any difficulty in finding a group to do the end game activities with. Some are a little toxic but the vast majority of people I have come across have been lovely and I quickly built up a group of regulars to play with in the various different modes.

      • Thanks guys, I might just pick it up. Got really into online recently with GTA so looking for other games I can sink my teeth into.
