Unsurprisingly, Koei Tecmo made an appearance during Sony’s TGS presentation, confirming a launch window for Dynasty Warrior 9. The hack n’ slash sequel is slated for “early 2018” worldwide release and will be available on PlayStation 4, Steam, and Xbox One outside of Japan. It’s unclear whether it DW9 will have a simultaneous global launch but if so it sounds like international versions of the game will follow much sooner than they have in the past.
Koei Tecmo also launched a new trailer for the game, as seen above. It showcases many of the series’ returning characters alongside its new open-world focus. Instead of hopping from stage to stage, Dynasty Warriors 9 will have you traversing a large mosaic of settlements and battlefields, taking on missions and fighting in pivotal campaigns.
It’s by far the ambitious instalment to date and we can’t wait to see more as 2018 rapidly approaches.
