GT Sport has been relatively solid since launch, but a handful of nagging issues with controllers have hampered the enjoyment for some. The 1.03 update fixes and improves the situation for Thrustmaster T500RS users and those with the TH8A H-pattern shifter, while DualShock 4 handling has been fiddled with amidst other minor tweaks.
Notably missing is the Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel for PlayStation 4 support that was surprisingly absent at the game’s launch, though Fanatec have assured their users that support is coming.
The patch notes are as follows:
Main Features Implemented
- Fixed an issue wherein repeatedly deleting your email address from [Options] > [Email Address] would cause the game to crash.
- Fixed an issue wherein participating in a Drift Trial with a car featuring an exterior livery created with a custom colour chip (a colour chip created in the Livery editor) would result in the game crashing after the result screen.
- Fixed an issue wherein excessive force feedback was applied when understeering using the THRUSTMASTER® T500RS steering controller.
- Fixed an issue wherein the THRUSTMASTER® TH8A ‘H pattern shifter’ was not properly recognised when connected to a compatible steering wheel controller.
Other improvements and adjustments
- The controller steering sensitivity of the DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller has been increased in order to improve handling during oversteering and drifting.
- The adjustment range for a steering wheel controller’s force feedback has been broadened: it is now possible to decrease maximum torque on steering wheels with strong motor torque.
- Various other issues have been addressed.

I quickly tried the controller the other day. By heck it was appalling. Should not have been released that way.

Tried the TH8A H-pattern shifter earlier and it’s working fine. I’ve been waiting until it was fixed before trying the VR mode as it makes it more realistic. I’ve got the Gold to get in the last two missions then I’ll be in VR mode.
