As the Metal Gear, Uncharted, and Bioshock movies sizzle in development hell, production on the movie based on the 1986 Bally Midway arcade game Rampage is in full swing and the first trailer has been released. It stars The Rock, Neegan, and Deathstroke, or if you prefer, Dwayne Johnson, Joe Manganiello and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, plus re-imagined versions of the arcade monsters George, Lizzie, and Ralph.
Rather than go for anthropomorphic versions of the monsters found in the games,George and chums seems to be based on real animals. Lizzie is getting the most obvious reboot, changing from what was clearly a take on Godzilla in to something more akin to a giant crocodile.
It looks ridiculous as you might expect, the Rock is playing a primatologist for heaven’s sake, but it also looks quite faithful to the game with the monsters wrecking huge skyscrapers as they battle.
Rampage will, ahem, rock in to cinemas April next year.
