Brace yourselves, here come the stats! Black Friday boosted game sales by +89% compared to last week, and hardware sales rocketed with the PS4 having it’s best week ever other than launch week. The official hardware bundles contributed to 83% of all hardware sales during the week which means the charts are dominated by games that were packaged with consoles, Call of Duty: WWII takes top spot, FIFA 18 comes in second and Gran Turismo Sport races back up the charts to third place.
PlayStation VR Worlds jumps up the chart as it was bundled with headset and PSVR hardware sales have equalled those of launch week, and sales of the fancy hat last week were the equivalent of the previous eighteen weeks combined. Nice to see the PlayLink titles also getting some love, Knowledge is Power debuting at No14 and Hidden Agenda debuting at No15.

Black Friday madness! The plummeting prices of GT Sport were incredible, glad to see if helped shift a few consoles, I’m really enjoying it. And also good to see Battlefront 2 doing well despite loot box gate. Three weeks until Star Wars, weeee!

Yeah definitely, not because of the pay-to-win elements which I probably feel similarly but less strongly as you do about, but because it’s Star Wars. I don’t think the crap gets in the way of me enjoying some the beautifully crafted environments and straightforward fun, and I’m sort of lucky in that with kids my time on the PlayStation is limited so I’m not too upset about the rubbish progression. The framework is meh but I honestly think the game underneath is truly awesome :)
