Free To Play Defiance 2050 Heads To PC And Consoles This Summer

The TV show Defiance was an alright sci-fi show mixing together humans alien species trying to coexist on a transformed Earth, while also dealing with a change the way civilisation was made up. Along with the show there was an MMO of the same name that was based on events from the TV show, and now the developers are looking to continue what was built upon by announcing a sequel MMO called Defiance 2050.

Defiance 2050 will be releasing on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this summer. Trion Worlds has also confirmed that characters and items will not transfer over from the original Defiance as they don’t want to hinder any advancements made. Character and loadout slots will transfer over. A Valor Program will be instated in Defiance as a way for players to earn rewards that will be accessible in Defiance 2050.

A Defiance 2050 closed beta will also be hosted which you can sign up for through here.

  1. Well that’s unexpected.

The original game was quite fun, although possibly a bit ambitious for the PS3. It struggled at times.

And the TV show was entertaining. One of the better ones from SyFy (which might have been spelled sensibly back then?), and so inevitably cancelled after 3 years. But I guess it ended in a reasonable enough place.

The stuff in the game that tied in to events in the TV show did seem horribly forced at times. I guess that won’t be a problem now.

Could actually work out well. As long as they’ve got Bear McCreary doing the music.

    • Agreed the PS3 version struggled a bit was fun, looking forward to this.

  2. Quite enjoyed the Defiance game, was half expecting a re-release so a sequel os even better. Thought the show was a bit pants though.
