Have you been keeping up to date with each episode of Batman’s latest video game adventure, or have you been waiting for the story to wrap so you can play it all through in one go? Well either way, the good news is that the season finale is just a few weeks away, coming out on 27th March.
Titled ‘Same Stitch’, what’s going to be fascinating here is just how wildly different people’s experiences can be. The description reads: “Based on the relationship you’ve built with John Doe, you’ll see one of two very different stories play out. So what’ll it be, Bruce: friend…or foe?”
All of your choices leading up to this point will see the episode play out in two fundamentally different ways. Either John Doe evolves into the classic Joker villain, or he becomes something more of a vigilante. This is Telltale’s most ambitious episode ever with these two essentially separate storylines only sharing three scenes, and within that you can branch depending on more of your player choices. Essentially, Telltale have made two completely different episodes.
WIth a script that’s larger than the entire Dark Knight film trilogy, a presumably very tired Season Lead Writer James Windeler said, “Without exaggeration, Same Stitch is the most ambitious piece of content Telltale has ever produced. We had to adjust our usual development process to accommodate the added scope, but it was super important to us to honor players’ choices, whether they chose to befriend John or not. We had to deliver on the season’s central promise of allowing players to craft their own Joker.”
