God Of War Is The Second Best Game On PS4 According To Metacritic

The new God of War has been scooping up tens as the reviews flooded in and the nice graphic below shows you just how many top scores it has got. Apart from us, we gave it 8/10, once again proving that Sony pay us huge amounts of money to be nice about all things PlayStation.

Due to the huge amount of 10/10s the rebooted God has jumped straight in to joint second place in Metracritic’s all time best games on PlayStation 4, tied with The Last of Us Remastered. The only game that is better is, of course, Grand Theft Auto V. Here’s the full top ten from Metacritic.

God of War hits the shops this week so you can all tell us if it was a ten or and eight in What We Played next week.

  1. Cannot wait for this! ShopTo just dispatched my game, I hope I get it early. I been dying for more God of war.

  2. What’s really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have given it 8/10 if they hadn’t said anything? :D

Don’t really pay attention to scores. I mean, GTA V is top of the list and I thought that was one of the most boring games I’ve ever played.

Can’t wait to play this game though!

    • If who hadn’t said anything?

    • I believe it’s a The Matrix quote?

I do often wonder how I would feel as a reviewer if I reviewed something as 8 but the rest of the industry gave it a 10 unanimously.

Maybe it speaks to my self doubt but I would assume I had got something wrong.

Have you every gone back on a score you’ve given a game in the past, upon reflection?

      • I think you just have to see it as an individuals opinion, rather than the collective opinions of the site.

I used to like the articles here at TSA, where we had a number of mini-reviews from several different people. Although I realise this is probably too time consuming to do for every game.

One review that always springs to mind is IGN’s ridiculous 6/10 for Alien Isolation.

Then you could debate whether the ‘wrong’ person can review a game. Should a person who dislikes a particular genre be allowed to review a game in that genre?

    • Yeah, it was a tongue-in-cheek reference to The Matrix in reference to:

“We gave it 8/10, once again proving that Sony pay us huge amounts of money to be nice about all things PlayStation.”

Did the implied accusations of being paid by Sony influence their decision to mark the game down in order to prove that they aren’t paid by Sony?

  3. Nice to see that half the top ten are Playstation exclusives too – and even more encouraging that most of the top ten are single-player story based games!

  4. How is MGS #5 uncharted4 should be at #5?

Both games are good but in my opinion MGS should be lower.
