May’s Games With Gold Features MGSV: The Phantom Pain & Vanquish

Somewhat appropriately, May’s Games with Gold selection has snuck out with nobody at Xbox noticing. It’s not up on Major Nelson’s blog yet, nobody’s acknowledged it through their Twitter accounts, and yet it’s there for all who have the link to the as yet unlisted video on YouTube. Oops!

It looks like a cracking month as well, with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Vanquish (via backward compatibility) two very highly regarded games. Super Mega Baseball 2 is a little bit more niche, but Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage (via BC) will surely appeal to those after some classic gaming with all three games included.

Here’s the date ranges when they’ll be available:

  • Super Mega Baseball 2 – 1st May to 31st May
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – 16th May to 15th June
  • Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage – 1st May to 15th May
  • Vanquish – 16th May to 31st May

And don’t forget that you can still pick up three of April’s games:

  • The Witness – 1st April to 30th April
  • Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – 16th April to 15th May
  • Dead Space 2 – 16th April to 30th April

  1. I think it’s fair to say Microsoft are crushing it recently on the Games with Gold program.

  2. Good month. Of course, PS+ Already have MGS V in October. Fingers crossed plus is good again this month.

  3. Good selection and trying MGS with X enhancement will be interesting. My predicament is I (oddly) prefer MGS on a PlayStation console and so will still complete it on my Pro. Quite the opposite with games like COD/Battlefield. Some games just seem more fitting on a specific platform, could be nostalgia I guess.

Prime example, for me Resident Evil 4 will always belong to GameCube
