Both Doom And Angry Birds Are Getting New Movies

It’s fair to say whilst we’re still waiting for out first five star movie based on a video game the quality of such films has increased dramatically in the past few years. Assassin’s Creed wasn’t too bad, Tomb Raider was enjoyable, and last weeks Rampage was utterly ridiculous but brilliant switch-your-brain-off  popcorn fodder.

I highly recommend it, if only for the scenes where the bad guys discuss being shocked about how Project Rampage has gone wrong and created giant animals that are wrecking a city, when they have an actual Rampage video game cabinet behind them.

The Angry Birds, which are still a thing although I don’t know anyone who still plays the games, are getting a sequel to the 2016 movie which raked in over $350 million at the box office. Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Danny McBride and Peter Dinklage are all set to return as the birds with the movie hitting cinemas in September 2019.

There’s also going to be another Doom movie, which is a bit of a surprise as even The Rock says the original film was crap “I lived the video game curse, because I made Doom,” he told Total Film. “And Doom was a movie based off a very popular video game and was incredibly unsuccessful. So I lived the curse, and I experienced it.”

Actress and singer Nina Bergman tweeted that she had signed up for the new movie, which will distributed by Universal and directed by Tony Giglio who’s previous work includes S.W.A.T.: Under Siege (never heard of it), Timber Falls (nope), and Soccer Dog: The Movie (you’re kidding, right?).

Nina went on to say the script is much better than the previous Doom movie. She also tweeted “I wasn’t really suppose to talk about it… didn’t know it would leak like this,” so clearly doesn’t know how the internet works.
