Overwatch’s Second Anniversary Event Kicks Off Next Week

Overwatch has already settled into a groove with its regular events, from Lunar New Year to the Summer Games. Next week marks the second anniversary of the game’s release (24th May 2016), and so they’re celebrating with the return of the anniversary event.

Running from 22nd May until 12th June, there’s a bevy of event-specific cosmetic items, both new and old, to cross your fingers for when opening the (possibly gambling) loot boxes. There’s fifty new items including legendary skins and three epic skins across the wide array of characters, as well as new dance emotes for Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte, who’ve been added in the last year.

All the old dances are coming back, and so too are a bunch of the Arcade game modes, which will rotate on a daily basis and could bring back the Overwatch: Archives co-op modes.

In addition to this, there’s a new Deathmatch map called Petra, and Deathmatch will have a new competitive mode, with placement matches, skill rating tiers and leaderboards.

In the middle of all of this, Overwatch will have a free weekend on 25-29th May and you won’t need PS+ in order to get online for those few days.

Finally, Blizzard are releasing a new Legendary Edition of the game digitally, which will include sets of Legendary, Epic, and Origin skins, adding up to a total of 15 skins. It’ll be released on 22nd May, and probably cost an arm and a leg.
