Borderlands 3 Delayed, Not That It Was Ever Announced In The First Place

We all know Borderlands 3 is coming, Gearbox have been talking about it for years confirming it was being developed way back in March 2016, and also talking about “a thing does not exist until it’s announced” in September last year. It appears the Gods of Marketing won’t let them officially say it’s a thing until they are ready, even though everyone knows it is a thing.

That thing, which they still won’t name, is taking longer than expected and has had it’s release date moved, as revealed in a recent Take-Two News Release aimed at  shareholders.

The highly-anticipated title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises, which had been planned for release during the current fiscal year, is now planned for launch during fiscal 2020 to allow for additional development time.

That means we won’t see Borderlands 3 until at least April 2019, and possibly as late as March 2020. This does explain why Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford took to Twitter yesterday posting a lengthy piece about how people believe anything on the internet.

“I could write it out now precisely and specifically that ‘Borderlands 3’ will not be at E3 and many of you will choose not to believe it. Many of you will find a way to interpret the intent to suit what you want to believe regardless of what is true,” he tweeted.

Randy can be properly snarky sometimes, but I find it a little rich complaining how the internet will believe what it wants when he was a big part of the whole Aliens Colonial Marines debacle.

Sounds like he’s frustrated that few people believe him now with his history of continuously lying through his teeth. He just spouts out whatever suits his agenda at the given time.

I thought the first Borderlands was great but the Borderlands games are huge time-sinks. I rented the Handsome collection last year and had to ask myself if I really wanted to ‘waste’ 500 hours of my life. I decided not to bother. I wish you could play a condensed version of the games, just for the story. The Telltale game was pretty good in that regard.

I guess it’s a fair prediction that Rage 2 is likely to come out first in that case.
