The Fallout 76 BETA Will Take Place In October

Staggered fallout.

Whether you love the look of Fallout 76 or loathe the idea of a multiplayer game in the universe and all the changes that entails, there’s still a good deal of interest in how it will pan out. Luckily, prior to release, Bethesda are holding their pun-tastic B.E.T.A., or Break it Early Test Application.

They’ve now clarified a little on when and how you’ll be able to get in and try the game out, with the test set to take place in October, just prior to the game’s 14th November release.

Starting in October we’ll be selecting people who have pre-ordered the game from a participating retailer to enter our B.E.T.A. We’ll start small and grow over time as we prepare for launch. Be sure you’ve read our F.A.Q., for details on how to redeem your B.E.T.A. code and other important details.

They clarify that all people who pre-order at certain retailers will be included in the test, but it seems as though this will be more staggered out. We discovered from the FAQ a while back that the beta will be coming to Xbox One first before it reaches PS4 and PC, and so there’s now a real sense that they’re staggering its roll out to gradually scale up the load on their servers.

For more details on Fallout 76, keep an eye out for the Fallout 76 panel and fan Q&A on 11th August at this year’s QuakeCon.

  1. I am equal parts excited and worried about this. On the one hand, it’s Fallout. On the other hand, is it really Fallout?
