Diablo III’s Switch Port Made Official, Coming This Year [Updated]

Update 19:00 – After this morning’s little slip up, Blizzard have made it official: Diablo III Eternal Collection is coming to Switch some time later this year. It will feature all of the content previously released for the game, and let you play with up to four players locally on the switch, via ad hoc wireless play or through Nintendo Switch Online.

The original story follows.

Someone at Forbes has probably crawled into a store room for a bit of a sit down in the dark, as the business news publication mistakenly published and then pulled a story about a Nintendo Switch port of Diablo III. This has long been rumoured, but Forbes’ story confirms the game for release later this year.

While the story has been removed, it was captured by Reddit users before it could disappear, allowing us to catch some of the details.

It will be called Diablo III: Eternal Collection, bringing together the main game and both Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansions. However, there will be Switch exclusive content including some The Legend of Zelda cosmetic armour that looks like Ganondorf.

There will be comprehensive multiplayer options, with up to four players on a single switch, four player ad hoc wireless multiplayer, and online play (though you will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription)

There’s no specific date for the release, other than “later this year”, but it will be priced at $59.99.
