Spyro Reignited Trilogy Has Been Delayed Until November

Your nostalgic trip back to the Dragon Realms will have to wait, I’m sorry to say. Activision and Toys for Bob have announced today that the Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been delayed from September until 13th November.

Toys for Bob Co-Studio Head Paul Yan released the following statement:

Everyone here at Toys for Bob is so proud to be reigniting the original Spyro trilogy after all these years. We’re deeply committed to getting these games right, so we’ve decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018. I really hoped that you would be rescuing dragons and scorching Rhynocs sooner, but the Trilogy needs more love and care.  In November when you’re exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you’ll agree the extra time was worth the wait.

Rumours swirled recently when it came to light that only the first game would be playable from the disc, the other two requiring a download. The speculation was that Activision would be printing discs while Toys for Bob finished the playable code, taking the notion of a day one patch to the extreme. Hopefully this will allow them to delay going gold master and get the full trilogy to be playable without an internet connection.

Activision have been laughing all the way to the bank with the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, which lengthened its stay at the top of the UK retail charts to eight weeks. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I’d wonder if Activision had delayed this on purpose to see how long they can extend the Bandicoot’s stay at the top of the charts. Heck, maybe it’ll be a Spyro and Crash 1-2 for the Christmas charts this year?

Oh right, Red Dead’s out in October? Probably not…

  1. If getting all the games on the disc is the reason for the delay then top marks Activision for doing the right thing, big claps all round.

  2. Ah, that soulcrushing time of year when all the games you’ve been looking forward to playing for months are delayed at the last minute.

First Tropico 6, now this. Pray for Spider-man and RDR2.

  3. It can stay there until all three games appear on the disc….
