Nothing’s changed at the top of the UK retail charts, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 leads FIFA 19 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In fact, the handful of fairly major games that did release last week failed to make enough of an impact on even the top 5!
Lego DC Super-Villains debuted in sixth, SoulCalibur VI in eighth, Starlink: Battle for Atlas down in fourteenth and it was twenty-third for the 3DS port of the original Luigi’s Mansion. In the first two cases, physical sales are down on their predecessors, but there’s always the caveat that digital sales are gradually growing – this is especially true for SoulCalibur VI coming six years after the fifth game. Starlink can be played in purely digital form, but with a physical toys-to-life aspect, Ubisoft will be hoping it picks up in the run up to Christmas. With over 80% of the sales coming on Switch, it’s clear that the Star Fox tie in has paid off on one platform, at least.
All eyes now turn to Red Dead Redemption 2 and the impact it can have on the UK games market this weekend.
