Microsoft’s CEO Says Xbox Game Pass Is Coming To Windows 10

Microsoft look set to unite their game publishing strategies in the near future, as CEO Satya Nadella said in an earnings call that Xbox Game Pass will be coming to Windows 10. This comes off the back of a big 44% increase in gaming revenue for the company and Xbox software and services itself growing by 36%.

Xbox Game Pass seems to be turning into a bit of a money spinner for Microsoft, almost certainly thanks to their decision to bring all of their first party exclusives into the service as soon as they’re released. At the same time, all Microsoft first party exclusives are also Xbox Play Anywhere games, meaning that you can buy or access them on both Xbox One and PC. This includes Xbox Play Anywhere games on Game Pass, but outside of Microsoft’s own titles, the vast majority of games on the service are only for Xbox One and so the service is only advertised for the consoles.

Nadella’s comment indicates that Microsoft will look to strike deals with third parties to create a Windows oriented version of the service, though we’ll have to wait and see what form that takes, whether it’s a separate entity, features a united library, or simply adds an array of PC games that both overlaps and lives alongside the Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles in Game Pass right now.

  1. XBox Game Pass, XBox Live (Gold), XBox Play Anywhere, Games with Gold, Deals with Gold, XBox Arena… I know I’m in the Sony camp but I don’t get what they all are? But then I suppose we have PlayStation Network, PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Now… Must be very confusing for someone coming into console gaming?

  2. This is great news. Means we can play Forza Horizon 4 and all the games on Xbox Game Pass on a PC without having to buy an Xbox.

  3. Was only a matter of time really. Game Pass seems to have been hugely successful for Microsoft so far, so it makes sense to bring that over to PC.
