Here’s The 20 Games Coming On The PlayStation Classic In December

Looking to get a slice of that sweet miniaturised retro console money pie, Sony announced the PlayStation Classic back in September, but details were short on what games you could actually expect to find on there. Well, just over a month ahead of its 3rd December release, now we know.

Those twenty games are:

  • Battle Arena Toshinden
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Destruction Derby
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Intelligent Qube
  • Jumping Flash!
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Mr. Driller
  • Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
  • Rayman
  • Resident Evil Director’s Cut
  • Revelations: Persona
  • Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
  • Syphon Filter
  • Tekken 3
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
  • Twisted Metal
  • Wild Arms

It’s a pretty wide selection, veering away from the most obvious choices in some cases, but there’s some really obvious games missing like Crash and Spyro – I wonder why? It’s now whether or not these twenty games are worth the £89.99 asking price to you?

  1. It’s actually been gifted to me as a wedding present so the price tag isn’t bothering me! But I am very happy with those games. Probably would have taken FFVIII over VII though. I’ve played 7 to death now.

    • Agreed, as well as being my favourite FF, you can already play VII and IX on PS4 but VIII is conspicuously absent.

      • That could be because everyone seems to think 8 is the worst of the PS1 games.

        Everyone is, of course, wrong.

      • Do people think this? I always thought it was thought of quite highly? Clearly people are more stupid than I first thought.

  2. Obvious omissions aside (Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro) that is a solid selection of games. Rainbow Six without analogue sticks sounds hellacious though…

  3. Without Gran Turismo it’s a miss I’m afraid, even though that is a great selection. I guess the lack of analogue sticks is a factor in their choices?

    • Gran Turismo is a shame but I think that might be a licensing issue.
I was really hoping for Wip3out but I wonder if the soundtrack is the problem there.

  4. Some beauties on there, really looking forward to reliving some of my yoot!

If I were to convey a message to Sony it would be…

    That’ll do pig, that’ll do :-)

  5. Buy it. Store it, and then carry on playing my personal selection on a Pi running Retro Pie. Not 100% perfect but not bad. Although I play more GT3 on Windows tbh, saves getting the PS2 out :)
