Petroglyph Games Are Handling The Command & Conquer Remastered Collection

If you’re a fan of real time strategy games with an unhealthily large side order of ham, then you no doubt love the classic Command & Conquer games. While the franchise has been in better shape – the less said about C&C Rivals, the better – EA are eager to remind us of the glory days and cash in on that sweet, sweet nostalgia factor with some 4K remasters.

After last month’s tease, The C&C Remastered Collection will feature the original Command & Conquer (which was retroactively subtitled Tiberian Dawn) and, what I’m sure we can all agree, was the far superior Red Alert. And yes, that will include all the classic expansion packs – Covert Ops, Counterstrike and Aftermath.

And who better to handle the remaster than some of the people who actually made the games in the first place? Many of the original developers from Westwood Studios went on to found Petroglyph Games, and it’s this company that EA are bringing in to remaster the games, with assistance from Lemon Sky Studios to get it up to snuff for 4K.

The one snag in the announcement is that development hasn’t even started yet, so this could be quite a way away from release. This is ostensibly to get the community involved in the process.

Here’s hoping they then get onto remastering Red Alert 2, which is my all time favourite and features a now surprisingly topical tale of Russians invading America and mind control…
