Sony have just lost one of their USPs as Quantic Dream have announced future titles will be multi platform. The reveal coincides with the news that Chinese company NetEase purchased a minority stake in the company.
“This investment will allow us to invest in future technologies and games in order to prepare for the next generation of platforms, with the same ambition regarding creativity and innovation,” explained David Cage. “Our goal is to develop our studio as a global, multi-franchise company, while remaining an independent studio. We want to keep developing original games in the genre we pioneered, but also expand our audience by being present on all platforms.”
Quite why Sony have never snapped up the company is somewhat of a mystery, whilst they may not be to everyone’s taste games like Detroit and Heavy Rain made PlayStation line up more varied than that of it’s competitors. Presumably this announcement is the “great news” David Cage teased just before Christmas.
