Nintendo’s hybrid console is turning into a real powerhouse, with the company selling 9.42 million consoles in the last three months of 2018. That now puts the console at 32.27 million in lifetime sales.
Keeping the console’s momentum high, Super Mario Party pushed 5.30 million, while Pokémon: Let’s Go sold a nice round 10 million units. Most impressive is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which, despite only coming out at the start of December, raced through 12.08 million sales. It’s now the third best selling Switch game, with only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (15.02m) and Super Mario Odyssey (13.76m) ahead of it – Odyssey, incidentally, is now the best-selling 3D Mario platformer.
Honestly, it’s no surprise that the Switch is selling well, at this point, and with a strong looking lineup for 2019, it’s sure to keep on selling. By now it’s surely passed the N64’s lifetime sales, and is managing to outpace the PlayStation 4 which had sold 30.2 million after two years. Of course, the Switch hasn’t even hit its second anniversary yet!
