Polyphony Digital unveiled the Dallara SF19 Super Formula car for GT Sport at the Motor Sports Fan Appreciation Day over the weekend, which will mean there’s a new open wheel option in the game outside of Lewis Hamilton’s 2017 F1 Championship winning Mercedes W08 and Polyphony’s fictional F1500T-A creation.
The car will be added to the game in an update sometime this spring, with promotional material suggesting a 28th March release. Whenever it does arrive, it will be true to the real world car, with players able to choose between Toyota and Honda engines to go in the chassis and with a boost overtake system.
GT Sport has gone from strength to strength since the game’s launch at the end of 2018. While it was criticised for a lack of content to start with, Polyphony soon added and ever-expanding amount of single player content to compliment the innovative online multiplayer, and have continued to augment the game in regular updates with more cars and tracks. The GT Sport last update came in mid-January, but series creator Kazunori Yamauchi teased an update for 5th March. The SF19 does not feature in that update’s teaser image, but could sneak in regardless.
