Activision announced Call of Duty: Mobile at GDC last night, showing an ambitious looking attempt to bring a very faithful rendition of the series’ multiplayer to iOS and Android for the first time. Drawing from the modes and popular maps of Black Ops and Modern Warfare series, the game will start beta testing in Europe, North America and South America soon, ahead of a free to play release. You can sign up for a chance to join the test here.
There’s few details on hardware support, dates or the extent of maps and modes to be included, but they do promise Search and Destroy, Team Deathmatch and Free For All, alongside fan favourite maps like Nuketown and Crash.
There’s plenty more planned for after release as well, with the final few moments of the trailer teasing zombies and the Blackout Battle Royale mode. That’s particularly notable, given the staggering popularity of PUBG and Fortnite on mobile devices in emerging markets.
