Nintendo and Amazon have teamed up to try and rope people into their respective subscription services, with Twitch Prime members being able to claim a full year of Nintendo Switch Online. Since Twitch Prime membership is bundled in as part of Amazon Prime in general, that’s an awful lot of people who can now get a free year of online gaming on Switch.
The promotion is split into two parts, presumably to stop abuse. Starting today Twitch Prime members can claim three months of Switch Online by visiting http://twitch.amazon.com/nintendo, and 60 days from now members will then be able to claim a further nine months. A three month Switch Online sub is priced at £6.99/€7.99, while a full year is worth £17.99/€19.99.
You can get those first three months even if you’re using a free trial membership of Prime, and the membership can be stacked with a current Switch Online subscription, but only for individual subs and not family subs. You have until September 24, 2019 for the first three months and until January 22, 2020 to claim the additional nine months.
Nintendo Switch Online is the Switch’s gateway to playing online games, launched last September over 18 months after the console’s original release. Required for playing games online, it also featured cloud backups for save data and a growing collection of classic NES games that have been enhanced with online play.

I’ve just claimed my 3m and seemed fairly straightforward. Apparently I’ll get an email reminder in about 60 days to claim other 9m. Better than a kick in the teeth with a sharp stick. Thanks.
