New gameplay details for Marvel’s Iron Man VR surface

The first gameplay previews of Marvel’s Iron Man are starting to crop up online and so far, the PSVR-powered superhero sim is going down well.

A small number of outlets were able to get their hands on an early build of the game, sampling a hefty 20-30 minute chunk of the upcoming game from developer Camouflaj.

A tutorial level was playable as was the plane scene from the debut trailer Sony debuted during its State of Play broadcast last week. New footage and screenshots from the game have surfaced along with some first impression.

In a nutshell, Iron Man won’t be on-rails and the flight mechanics are said to make intuitive use of the PlayStation Move controllers, emulating the suit’s palm-embedded thrusters. Using these in tandem with Stark’s arsenal of high tech weapons doesn’t sound like it will be a clumsy juggling act either which will come as a relief.

As Iron Man, you will be going up against Ghost who fans of the MCU will recognise as the antagonist from 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. Much like Marvel’s Spider-Man, it’s worth noting that this game wont directly tie into the Disney film franchise.

Sony has yet to confirm a launch date though Marvel’s Iron Man will be released some time in 2019.

  1. Really looking forward to this, huge Marvel fan all my life with Iron Man being one of my favourite characters it’s still strange his name is so mainstream I remember as a kid trying to explain to friends who Tony Stark was. Ghost is a great villian but I am hoping The Mandarin makes an appearance in this.
