Tragedy struck just a day before the previous Disaster Report game was meant to launch on PlayStation 3, the most powerful earthquake ever record in Japan thundered in to life off the Pacific coast of Tōhoku on Friday March 11th, 2011. I’m sure you will remember watching the terrible pictures on the news, including a huge tsunami which wiped entire towns off the map and killed over 28,000 people.
The game was quickly cancelled but since then a new company, Granzella, picked up the licences and it took until November 2018 until the game hit the shelves in Japan. That game, Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories, will now be heading West courtesy of NIS America.
Like previous games in the series Disaster Report 4 features a massive earthquake in a densely populated city. You play as a young woman on her way to a job interview when the catastrophic crisis strikes. With aftershocks, fires, and building collapsing, you must escape the city, helping other survivors on the way.
The game launch in early 2020 on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
