Ubisoft has confirmed the content of Ghost Recon Wildlands’ final major title update, and the publisher is looking to end on a high note. This title update will add Mercenaries mode, a new PvPvE mode in which eight characters battle it out to claim victory, but it won’t be as simple as taking other players out and racking up kills.
In Mercenaries mode all players start off equipped with a single melee weapon and have to find gear to help gain the advantage, including weapons, armour, money and healing items. As you search for the gear you’ll also be looking for radio transmitters to activate. As these are activated an extraction zone area begins to emerge. Once a player has activated three transmissions an extraction helicopter will head to the landing zone. The first person to get aboard the helicopter wins the match.
It sounds simple until you find out that it’s not just the seven other players you have to be concerned with as Unidad forces will also be hunting down players. They can cause a lot of damage in the Wildlands so you’ll want to stay clear if possible. Then again they may be near some decent loot. Take the wrong action and they may hit you with a weapon that causes a player’s character to bleed which will diminish some health over time. The mode will also feature destructible doors which can be broken down if you want to get into a building to find loot, or get into cover. Other players will be able to hear a door getting broken so be aware of your surroundings.
Everyone who plays the Mercenaries mode will be given the Lone Wolf skin after their first match as a thank you gesture from Ubisoft. The mode itself will be available from July 18th to all players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
