A demo is out now for Tokyo RPG Factory’s Oninaki on PS4, Nintendo Switch & Steam

The third game from Tokyo RPG Factory, Oninaki is marking quite a departure from the classic turn-based JRPG gaming of I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear. The studio’s latest is an action RPG, but whether that shift fills you with excitement or trepidation, you’ll be able to check out their work ahead of the game’s 22nd August release date.

A demo is coming out today for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Exact timings of the demo’s release will depend on platform and territory, so just check the stores a little later today.

Update: It’s out now at the following locations:

Also going live today are pre-orders for the game, at 2PM BST. The game will be a digital launch on PC, but will have both physical and digital releases on PS4 and Switch.

Oninaki places players in the role Kagachi who is a member of the Veil Watch. This group is tasked with keeping a balance between the world of the living and the journey the dead take through the Beyond on their way to reincarnation. Kagachi and his team travel between the realm looking for the Lost, souls that have gone off the path, and attempt to rescue them so peace can be achieved for them. These souls can also join Kagachi though and grant powers too.
