A Black Desert open beta will be taking place in early August for PS4

Just over a month ago Pearl Abyss announced that the medieval inspired MMORPG Black Desert would be heading to PS4. The game had previously been an Xbox One console exclusive. The PS4 version beta will be taking place from August 9th until August 13th and it will NOT require a PS Plus subscription to try out, though the final game will. Those who try out the beta will gain the Sky Hawk pet in the final game, which itself will be released for purchase on August 22nd. The game should be playable in 4K on the PS4 Pro.

Beta participants will be able to choose from six classes to play as with these being : Berserker, Ranger, Sorceress, Warrior, Witch, and Wizard. The beta will also give access to three regions in the game and those are Serendia, Balenos, and Calpheon. The story of the game pits the Kingdoms of Valencia and Calpheon against each other as both try to control the Black Stones, which allow people to unlock powers. They will be the focus of player’s quests to help unlock new skills as well as solve some of the mysteries that are present because of these stones. There will be events in the beta that will likely highlight the importance of these stones as well.

Fighting won’t be the only thing that players can do as options such as fishing, trading, and gathering are all viable ways to interact with the world of Black Desert. There will be a level cap in the beta which will be at 50, allowing players to try out the different classes. The languages supported will include English, German, French, Spanish, Korean, and Japanese.

Black Desert has already racked up over 20 million registered users across PC and Xbox One, and with launches on PS4 and mobile that number could increase by quite a lot.
