Caustic Reality and Blowfish Studios have announced that psychological horror game Infliction will be heading to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Q4 2019.
“Explore a home crystalized by tragedy and uncover the heartbreaking secrets hidden within messages, artwork, household objects, and other vestiges of domestic life,” reads the press release. That doesn’t sound too bad.
“Piece together the mystery behind a harrowing series of events while struggling to survive encounters with an entity that relentlessly stands in the way of finding absolution,” continues the press release. Well, mildly off putting, but please continue.
“Hide under tables or beneath beds and harness light sources like camera flashes to stun the spirit and momentarily elude its pursuit.” Again, nothing too sinister, done that in loads of games.
Let’s take a look at the trailer then.
NOPE! That’s a whole big bag of NOPE there. That does not look fun in any shape or form, including the form of a long haired woman scampering across the ceiling before screaming directly in your face.
“Infliction explores fears that manifested after my wife and I started a family,” said Clinton McCleary, Caustic Reality founder and Mission Designer at Blowfish Studios. Jeez Clinton, how much cheese did you have before going to bed? This is what you thought about after having a kid? Why can’t you be like Cory Barlog and make a heartwarming tale of father / son bonding with a dash of visceral combat!
“I set out to create a horror experience grounded in real-world problems that resonates with players and am looking forward to scaring everyone when we unleash it on consoles later this year,” he adds.
Infliction will be available via the Nintendo Switch eShop, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store for $19.99, €17.99, £15.99, and $24.99 AUD. It features support for English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese language option.
I bet you a tenner I’ll have to review this.
