Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince will be casting its spell in October

After a small amount of teasing last year, Frozenbyte eventually gave us the announcement of Trine 4 at the back end of 2018, and have now confirmed its release date. Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on 8th October.

The trailer showcases some new gameplay elements for Trine 4, with new skills and multiplayer tweaks in the game. There’s also a new combat system which will have you battling fantastical new enemies alongside the physics-based puzzling the series is known for.

There’s a little bit of tomfoolery with game editions and pricing. Trine 4 will cost £24.99 for the base game on everything except for Nintendo Switch, which will be £29.99 – it’s unclear if this is just at retail or if it’s digitally as well, as we saw with a few games around the Switch’s launch. The Ultimate Collection, bundles together Trine 1-4, and throws in downloads for the series Original Soundtrack, a Digital Art Book, and has a reversible cover and physical Trine 4 world map.

Additionally, if you pre-order the game in either form, you’ll have a bonus in-game level, Toby’s Dream. This follows Toby the dog, who was previously seen in Nine Parchments, who has his own adventure through Heatherwood Hall in the Three Heroes.
