September’s Games with Gold includes Hitman: The Complete First Season

Microsoft have unveiled the selection of games set to appear in September’s Games with Gold haul. The bald assassin is dressing up for his third appearance in the service’s bundled game selection, with Hitman: The Complete First Season bringing the complete episodic package together – as a bonus, if you own Hitman 2, this will unlock all of the first season levels in that game for you.

Joining Agent 47 in the Xbox One game column is collaborative escape puzzler We Were Here, while the two Xbox 360 games will be Earth Defense Force 2025 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

The full dates of availability are below.

Also, don’t forget that you can currently pick up the following:

Looking back on the first season of IO Interactive’s Hitman revival, Jim wrote in our review, “Hitman may have its shortcomings, but with a few smart revisions this could easily become one of the best game series to appear on current consoles.”

Or course, that clearly paid dividends when the second season rolled around, where I said, “Building on the foundations of the 2016 game, Hitman 2 is full of the best Hitman stealth action yet. Yes, it’s evolutionary in some ways, and you have to accept the series’ idiosyncratic take on the genre, but there’s space for it to keep growing with the return of Escalation missions and continuing Elusive Contracts. Whether you’re a blackmailing pink flamingo, throwing briefcases at people, or getting robots to do your dirty work, the satisfaction of an expertly planned and executed hit is like nothing else.”

If you’re on the fence about Hitman, it’s well worth giving a go with the first season, before considering diving into the latest game.

  1. Protip – You can download a free version of Hitman 2 then import all Season 1 levels you own!
That way you can play enhanced versions of those levels with all the graphical and gameplay upgrades introduced in Hitman 2.
