Cyberpunk 2077’s latest deep dive video looks at Strong Solo and Netrunner builds

CD Projekt Red has released a brand new deep-dive video for Cyberpunk 2077 with the focus being on two different character builds players could choose to play as in the open-world RPG, with these being the Strong Solo and the Netrunner. The main difference is that Strong Solo characters are all about facing violence head on and using force to win fights, while Netrunner build leans much more towards stealth approaches to situations, hacking areas to get information, and changing things on the battlefield through software so they can be used as an advantage instead of being a danger. That includes hacking enemy enhancements to knock them out or kill them. Be aware that there are some story spoilers in the footage.

The trailer also looks at the district of Pacifica as well as the gangs of the Voodoo Boys and the Animals. The setting of Pacifica presents a location that never fulfilled its potential. The district was meant to be the main tourist attraction but as the economy declined investors stopped investing leading to unfinished structures which the gangs now control, and fight over. It’s one of the more dangerous areas of Night City so using vehicles is the best way to avoid some of the danger, but stay in your vehicle and you’ll miss the businesses that are booming which deal in weapons, clothing and illegal software.

The Animals are based in the Grand Imperial Mall having just moved in and the Voodoo Boys are far from happy with this new arrangement. The Voodoo Boys are the biggest netrunner gang present with huge ties with Haitian community who moved to Pacifica after the nation of Haiti suffered a number of natural disasters. The Animals are much more focused on using brute strength and favour melee combat above all else. Their areas of business focus on illegal fights and illegal substances.

When it comes to character creation players will have to choose V’s backstory whether it be a nomad, a former corporate member, or a street kid. Whatever choice is made will impact the type of access V will have. There’s no fixed classes in Cyberpunk 2077 so players can mix and match the skills that V has equipped allowing for a more fluid approach to missions. If players choose to go full Solo Strength then they’ll be able to rip guns from turrets, rip open doors, do some high melee damage, and use enemies as shields. Netrunners will be able to hack equipment instead to strike from afar without being detected. Most areas of Night City have networks and all of them can be hacked. However, the net is always being watched so there’s always a chance of being caught with NetWatch being the prime CyberSecurity firm, and you’ll have to find ways to deal with them too.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
