Final Fantasy XIV All Saints’ Wake Halloween event returns

Square Enix has announced its plans for this year’s Final Fantasy XIV “All Saints’ Wake” event. Throughout the month we’ll be seeing plenty of developers putting on a spooky themed splash for Halloween in just about any online game but for MMORPGs they’ve been a long running tradition.

Starting on October 17th, Final Fantasy XIV players who venture into the woodlands of Gridania can visit the Continental Circus, taking part in various activities to unlock a spread of exclusive freebies. These include:

  • Circus Resonator mount – this unique voidsent was bred by the Continental Circus
  • Pumpkin Carriage – embrace the spirit of the season with this spooky – but regal – outdoor furnishing item
  • Fantastical All Saints’ Wake Advertisement – a notice that will be a welcome reminder about this year’s spooktacular event

This July saw the launch of Final Fantasy XIV’s third major expansion titled Shadowbringers. Aside from extending the max level cap and guiding players through yet another drama soaked chapter of the MMO’s storyline, Shadowbringers introduced two new playable races (the lion like Hrothgar and bunny eared Viera) as well as two new job classes (the Gunbreaker and Dancer).

The expansion also ushered in a number of significant gameplay changes with new and reworked mechanics including an AI party system for those wanting to experience certain content without needing a group.

Final Fantasy XIV update 5.1, titled “Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty” is currently in the pipeline and nearing release. 5.1 promises hours of new story content to play through while expanding the range of options available to crafting and gathering classes.

There are new Beast Tribes quests, a new dungeon, and even a New Game + option, though what most fans are excited for is the upcoming NieR collaboration. A new 24-player Alliance Raid dubbed “The Copied Factory” will see the two game universes collide in the first of a series of raids designed in collaboration with NieR: Automata director, Yoko Taro, and producer, Yosuke Saito.
