Two images have appeared on Twitter that seem to show the new version of Movie Sonic. There is no way to verify them, the source is “a friend a Paramount” but there is a good chance at least one of them is fake.
First, let’s remind ourselves of what original Movie Sonic looked like.
Yikes. The internet reacted badly to the design and Sega had concerns as well. “I don’t think SEGA was entirely happy with the eye decision, but these sorts of things you go, ‘It’s going to look weird if we don’t do this.’ But everything is a discussion, and that’s kind of the goal, which is to only change what’s necessary and stay true to the rest of it,” said executive producer Tim Miller at the time.
The uproar led to the director of the movie, Jeff Fowler, to take to Twitter and respond to the criticism.
Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast 🔧✌️

A few days later Jeff was back on Twitter and tweeted “Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right”, and the hashtag #novfxartistswereharmedinthemakingofthismovie. The image he posted revealed the movie had been delayed until February 2020.
So, have they fixed Sonic? Take a look…
That’s more like it! Here is another image.
Looks great, but can you spot the problem? Sonic has different ears in the two images, the top one has pink ears, the bottom image has blue. Also he has white shoes in the top image, red in the bottom. However, so far the internet has yet to locate a source for the images so perhaps one of them is real, or maybe they’re still busy rendering the movie and the bottom image is an older redesign.
The film was originally going to be produced by Sony by they sold the rights to Paramount. It stars James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, a former SFPD officer who has moved to Green Hills, Motana, who encounters the blue speedster, who is voiced by Ben Schwartz. Jim Carrey will be playing the villain Dr Ivo Robotnic and seems to be giving it full 1990’s Jim Carrey, which could be good. The cast also includes Tika Sumpter as Dr. Annie Wachowski, Neal McDonough as Major Bennington, and Adam Pally.
