The Outlast Trials revealed by Red Barrels, in early development

Red Barrels is not done with the Outlast franchise it appears as the developers have revealed a brand new entry into horror series. The Outlast Trials is not a direct sequel to the previous games but set in the same universe and the time frame here will be the middle of the Cold War. Additionally. The Outlast Trials will have a co-op element to it with players being able to explore the world in up to teams of four. You can play solo if you wish.

David Chateauneuf, Red Barrels co-founder said:

“We are proud to reveal the title and the first image of the game to our great community and fans. Our team is hard at work creating a new experience that will bring fear and anxiety to millions of players, whether they go through the experiments alone or with friends.”

That image David speaks about can be seen below.

The image shows three people looking like they are wearing night-vision goggles, with the middle character reaching up for someone to pull them out of the pit they are in. The Outlast Trials is still in early development but Red Barrels is now entering the full production stage. Due to the game entering production now there is no release window yet put forward, but Red Barrels will be providing updates as progression on The Outlast Trials continues.
