Apparently, Baldur’s Gate 3 is going to be released on Steam Early Access this year. We say apparently as this news has not come from Larian Studios but Hasbro. According to DSOGaming at a New York Toy Fair investor event a Hasbro representative told the crowd that Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on Steam Early Access. Hasbro also stated that there will be seven D&D games released between now and 2025.
Last week, Larian Studios confirmed that the gameplay reveal of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be occurring on February 27th at PAX East. It is likely that during this announcement Larian will confirm the Steam Early Access date for Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian revealed it was working on Baldur’s Gate 3 in June last year after putting out a teaser site in May which could have pointed to either Baldur’s Gate 3 or Divinity: Original Sin 3. There is very little detail about what to expect in Baldur’s Gate 3 but there are some basics:
They’ve based their game on 5th Edition of the D&D player’s handbook, ported it all into the video game form and have started to modify and add things on top of it to accommodate all the weird and wonderful things that players would want to do in a tabletop RPG. For example, you can get into an argument, pick up a chair, set it on fire, and smack it over an opponent’s head. That’s not exactly something that’s incorporated in the game rules.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been confirmed for PC and Stadia.
