Resident Evil 3 demo will hunt you down on Thursday, Resident Evil Resistance beta later this month

With viruses so in vogue right now, the upcoming release of the Resident Evil 3 remake on 3rd April seems particularly well timed. Hoping to drum up even more interest for a virus-themed video game, Capcom are dropping a demo of the game onto PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this week on 19th March.

Resident Evil 3: Raccoon City Demo will let you play as Jill Valentine as she teams up with Carlos Oliveira and the UBCS to evacuate citizens from Raccoon City. Simple, right? Wrong, because the game’s iconic Nemesis is hot on her heels, hunting her down without mercy.

Naturally, a lot of what we see here will be familiar for those who played last year’s superb Resident Evil 2 remake. Many of the same systems, including improved inventory management and third person combat, have all been carried over with some additional bells and whistles.

You can check out the transformation in the recently released comparison video from the original to the remake:

You’ll also be able to indulge in a little collectable minigame of sort, with Mr. Charlie setting you a scavenger hunt through Raccoon City. You’ve got 20 Mr. Charlie statues to try and destroy within the time limit, again with Nemesis hounding your every step.

The demo will be available from 4AM GMT on 19th March for Xbox One and at 5PM GMT on 19th March for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. Beating the demo will reveal a new cinematic trailer for the full game.

Then, at the end of the month, fans will be able to get a preview of Resident Evil Resistance, the asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer game that is included with Resi 3. You’ll be able to check out the role of the Masterminds as Daniel Fabron, controlling the stage filled with traps and bioweapons that are trying to kill four survivors chosen from a set of six characters.

The open beta starts on 27th March across Xbox One, PS4 and Steam, running through until the full game’s release on 3rd April.
