With Animal Crossing: New Horizons flying off the shelves as people look for a fun and often outdoors rendition of life to soak in, Nintendo have revealed more about the first two in-game events that will take place.

Already announced and patched into the game with the day one update, Bunny Day will celebrate Easter in a way that’s stripped of its religious significance, running from 1st to 12th April in game. You will have to have your game updated to 1.1.0 and be online in order to take part.
Bunny Day will see you running around your island looking for eggs that have been hidden by Zipper the bunny visitor. Using those eggs, you’ll then be able to craft special Bunny Day themed items.

Another update to the game will be released in April, which will add support for a new Earth Day event, alongside some new features for the game. We can’t wait to find out what they are.
It seems that post-launch development of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is well in hand for the time being, despite game director Aya Kyogoku telling The Washington Post this week they may have to adjust their plans for the game’s future seasonal events depending on how the coronavirus crisis evolves. Development “is still going”, but she also said, “We’re not sure if we have to shift anything, but I think we have to be flexible.”
The staff are currently still working from the Nintendo office, but with their working hours shifted in order to try and avoid rush hour commuting. It’s partly because of this that the first two events are on track, but we’ll obviously have to wait and see how the coronavirus pandemic unfolds in Japan, which has seemingly kept it in check up until this point, and if it will have a greater impact on day to day life.
Still, the game is a wonderful way to get away from it all. In our 9/10 review I said:
“Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the perfect island escape, drawing you in to play day after day. All of the charms of the series’ previous games are here, but with gorgeous new graphics, DIY crafting and the eventual ability to remodel your island, you can really create the island settlement of your dreams.”
