Gears Tactics launch trailer has been released, game available to pre-load

Splash Damage and The Coalition’s new take on the Gears franchise, Gears Tactics, will be available to play on April 28th and to mark the occasion a launch trailer has been released that gives a quick tour of what to expect. If you’ve played games like XCOM then you’ll have some understanding of what will be happening, but there are some changes. For example, when a character manages to execute an enemy that is not the end of their turn as they can attack again, and maybe again if that second enemy gets executed. You can watch the trailer below.

Gears Tactics is set 12 years before the first Gears of War title when the Locust Horde first rise from the underground to invade the planet of Sera. Leading this particular charge is your team’s main target Ukkon. The team is being guided by Sergeant Diaz and his squad of Gears as new recruits get put onto the battlefield in one of five classes. Those classes are Vanguard, Sniper, Support, Heavy and Scout. This is how the Gears Tactics is being described:

Gears Tactics is the fast-paced, turn-based strategy game from one of the most-acclaimed video game franchises – Gears of War. Outnumbered and fighting for survival, recruit and command your squad to hunt down an evil mastermind who makes monsters

Gears Tactics has so far only been confirmed for PC where players will be able to get it through Xbox Game Pass PC, Steam, or the Microsoft Store. A release date for the console version has not been announced though it is unlikely Microsoft will keep the game off of console for too long considering how big of a fan base would be left behind in such a situation. If you are a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass or planning to purchase Gears Tactics through the other options the game is available pre-load so you can jump right in when it unlocks on April 28th.
